What a Run of Crashborn Looks Like

One rule: keep moving. What happens on a planet between landing and takeoff.

The jump went wrong

Your ship is damaged and out of fuel on the rim of a system that is not yours. Of everything that was aboard, what is left is your companion, who follows you anywhere.

You remember a vortex at the center of the system. Crossing it is the only way home, and getting there means working through the system planet by planet.

You land, and they are already hunting

You pick a planet and drop in. From the first second there is one rule: keep moving. Enemies come from every angle and they do not stop.

Your weapons fire on their own. The only thing you control is where you are standing, and your survival depends on it. If you would rather aim by hand there is an alternate aimed mode, and you can hand a weapon to your companion to cover an angle you cannot reach.

You level up mid-fight

Enemies drop experience. Each level offers abilities you had in a past life: projectiles, orbitals, drones, auras. Implants raise your stats. Anomalies can save a run or ruin it, and you know that when you pick them up.

Two runs in a row will never offer you the same combination.

The planet gets worse the longer you stay

To take off you have to pull the energy out of the planet, recharge the ship and beat the guardian.

The more time you spend down there, the more lethal the world gets. Putting a good loadout together takes time, and that time is paid for in tougher enemies. Leaving quickly means reaching the next planet half-equipped.

Fuel covers one jump. Then it all starts over on a different world, with different enemies and different music.

Dying moves you to another branch

Your mind slips into a parallel branch where you did not die. Another solar system, another arsenal, a run you have never played.

From the last one you carry memory fragments. You spend them to get back the weapons and implants that the version of you who did not make it was carrying.

Where to see it

There is gameplay and the full breakdown at crashborn.com. The game is coming to Steam in Early Access, and wishlisting is free and helps Steam show it to people.
